Keep in Touch with the Choir
Season Ticket - Become a Patron
Our Patrons are close members of the Solihull Choral family. We aim to secure the services of the best young professional soloists and orchestral players for our concerts. The cost of professional orchestras and soloists and our relatively small venues means that only around 50% of concert expenditure is covered by ticket sales. The balance is funded by members' subscriptions, fundraising events and by the generosity of our Patrons.
We welcome new Patrons and for a minimum subscription of £70 each we will ensure that you have a season ticket to our concerts, an invitation to our social events and an open invitation to sit in at rehearsals if you wish. Full details are available by telephoning Geoff Wyatt on 0121 705 0311 or by email by contacting us.
SCS has Vacancies in All Voice Parts
We extend a warm welcome to new members of the choir and we encourage prospective members to join us at rehearsals for a few weeks before making a commitment. The Music Director then conducts a very straightforward audition so that singers are placed in the right voice part. For further information go to our Joining SCS Page.
Review November 09
The November concert, held at Olton Friary, consisted of music by two composers celebrating anniversaries in 2009, Purcell and Handel.
The great English Orpheus, Henry Purcell was represented by two of his best known Odes: “Welcome to All the Pleasures” and the ever popular “Come Ye Sons of Art”, written for the birthday of Queen Mary. In this, the most famous movement is Sound the Trumpet, written for two counter tenors. David Clegg (a regular soloist with the Society) and Gareth Price matched each other well and were given great support by the continuo team of the Queens Park Sinfonia.
